Q & A
How do I get saved?
"
Whoever calls upon the name of the Lord shall be saved" (Romans
10:13). "Unless you repent, you will perish" (Luke 13:3).
Repentance means to turn around. Turn from living a life without
God. Don't ignore Him but make Him a part of your life. Get to know
Him. Many will arrive at heaven's door and want to be let in. However,
Jesus said that He would reply "I never knew you: depart from
me" (Matthew 7:23). It all starts by asking Him to forgive
your sins and asking Him to be a part of your life.
PRAYER:
I have led many in this prayer. "Dear God, I am sorry for ignoring
you. I know that You are real and I want You to be a part of my
life. I understand that the penalty for sin is death and eternity without
you. I want to receive the gift of your Son Jesus and have my sins
forgiven. I know that Jesus died on the cross and rose from the
dead
so that I might live as well. I want to start living different
and include you in my life. Help me, God, to live the way you want me
to and turn away from sin."
Why does God allow so much evil in the world?
God gives us all the right to choose between right and wrong. "I
put before you life and death, choose life that you might live" (Deuteronomy
30:19). God doesn't force Himself on anyone. There is a place that
sin will lead you and that's death.
Do not blame God for the state of sin. Our planet is the way it
is because God put it in our hands. "And God said, Let us
make man in our image, after our likeness. Let them have dominion
over the fish of the sea, and over the fowl of the air, and over
the cattle, and over all the earth" (Genesis 1:26). He gave
it to us to run and this is the result. When mankind steps away
from Gods plan, we mess things up. I don't want to make light of
the bad things in the world, but we have to realize that God wants
to make things better. He is not "out to get you" but
wants to help. If everyone obeyed the Ten Commandments, imagine
how wonderful the world would be. However, mankind wants to do
things its own way, and that's the world we're living in.
How could a loving God send people to Hell?
God doesn't send you to hell. You send yourself. In fact, God has
done so much to try and stop you from going to hell. "For
God so loved the world that He gave His only Son, and whoever believes
on Him will not perish but have everlasting life" (John 3:16).
God sent His Son to save you from hell, after death and on earth.
Matthew, chapter ten, tells us that those who reject Christ will
not go to heaven. Salvation is a gift. Will you receive it or not?
Let's face it, if everyone went to heaven, it would be no different
from here. That would be disappointing. We need to repent and ask
God to forgive us of our sin.
What should I do when my parents put me down?
Maybe you're in a situation where your parents are constantly abusing
you verbally. So many times, parents think their kids are wasting their
lives and they want to make their kids stronger by being tough on them,
but all it does is make you weaker and it is abusive. Abusive words
can make you feel worthless and destroy your self-esteem. If you are
in a situation like this, then you need to realize the love of God.
God is not like an earthly father who says bad things to you; he always
loves you and cares about you.
You need to spend time with your Christian family. The family of God
will be there for you. We are all human; we make mistakes too, but no
one worthless. "You can do all things through Christ who gives you
the strength" (Philippines 4:13). I always tell my kids, "If
no one has told you this week, I want to tell you that you're awesome,
talented and special. I love you and so does God."
How do you forgive someone who has hurt you?
God "heals the brokenhearted" (Psalm 147:3). You can be bound
to someone by love but hatred or un forgiveness can also bind you. You
don't want to be connected to someone in that way. "Forgive" in Hebrew
means to "cut loose." You must forgive him or her and cut them
loose. This will also set you free from bad feelings. Letting the hurt
turn to anger won't make you feel better. People often exchange one emotion
for another and never really find peace.
Remember that forgiveness will not relieve the hurt, but it will open up
your heart to allow the healing process to begin. Try not to allow this
person to hurt you again.
What is AIDS?
AIDS stands for "Acquired Immune Deficiency Syndrome." You contact
it through infected body fluids or blood. Most people who are infected
with the AIDS virus look and feel fine. They only way to tell if you have
the virus is to have a blood test. You can have the virus without developing
the disease. And you can transmit the virus to others. Once you have it,
you have it for life. There is no known cure to man. When AIDS develops
it destroys your immunity system. You can no longer fight off sickness
and that's what causes eventual death. [Based on Collier's Encyclopedia, "Acquired
Immune Deficiency Syndrome (AIDS)."]
Is There Hope?
The answer to that question is definitely YES. The Good News tells us in
Isaiah 53:5 that "... by His stripes we are healed." When Jesus
died on the cross He took our sickness upon Himself and completely provided
for our healing. There is great HOPE in His provision for healing in our
lives, no matter how serious the illness may be. A true understanding of
God's desire for each of us living healthy, happy lives, begins most importantly
with salvation. Please see " How do I get saved? " at the top
of this Q&A list for
more details.
